Jesus Trail, day 2

After breakfast at the Cana Wedding Guest house, we left just after 7 am on the trail through the city.  Many children were out and heading to school.  We had steep up and downhill climbs to get out of the city. The landscape was beautiful as we came out of Cana.
We experienced another beautiful day, the morning was mild with a breeze and a few puffy clouds in the distant sky.  Sometimes we have a narrow rocky path, other times smooth with gravel, some roads even paved.  Today we met no one walking on the trail, typically, hikers head from Nazareth to Capernaum as we are.
Coming into a pine tree forest
Some parts of the trail are marked with stacked stones

We are not familiar with the Gospel Trail, but it has a beautiful marker!
 Part of the Roman road
We were glad to come to Kibbutz Lavi where we filled our water bottles and enjoyed a nice break.  Originally, we had planned to stay there, but we read an email on Sunday that they cancelled our reservation!  We decided to walk on to Arabel today where we made a reservation at a guest house there.  The distance travelled nearly doubled today to our destination, because of the change of plans.
Some places the trail led us beside harvested fields
We were glad we did not have to walk through the herd and got to the other side of the fence before we walked by!  Fortunately, we didn't see a bull, either.

The climb to the Horns of Hattin was steep
Near the top was a monument with scripture
As we came around the Horns of Hattin, we saw our first glimpse of the Sea of Galilee
We saw the town in the distance and prayed it was Arabel, our destination!
 Praise God! We're almost there!
Today was a long and challenging day.  We were ready to relax at the Galilee Cabin in Arabel when we arrived. It was a delight to soak in the hot tub and pool after such a strenuous day.  Since we traveled such a distance today, we are thankful that tomorrow will be shorter.
We talked today about how Jesus and others from his day must have been in very good shape to travel over the terrain.  He probably wasn't in as much of a hurry as we are in our lives today.  Most likely, he carried very little and didn't have a backpack with a change of clothes, waterbottles, food, laptop and other "necessities".  Perhaps, we need to "lighten" our load in life, sometimes we carry many things or "baggage" that burdens us.  Troubles, problems, worries, out of balance priorities...you could probably name some others. Tonight I plan to "lighten my load" by turning over some things to Him, maybe you will, too.
Until next time, blessings to you!
